Summertime

Summer is quickly approaching…… well sometimes…. Mother Nature has a cruel sense of humor. When Summer does come with all it’s revenge and is the 90 degree weather many families are out enjoying it. It seems we pass right over spring time, which is my favorite season. We enjoy camping, and we finally got a camper, so we will be luxury camping this summer. We enjoy swimming, 4 wheeling, going to parades, carnivals, fairs, and family reunions. My husband and kids like to go hunting. We like to go fishing when it’s not scorching hot. We are all fairly light skinned and tend to look like lobsters for the first part of the summer.

Pinterest Mom

I have attempted to be the perfect Pinterest mom, and it’s too exhausting. Trying to get everything just right and being the mom, everyone envies. I have learned one lesson of life is to be available and try to make your kids think you are super woman every now and then, but you have to have a little “you” time….. I know, what is that? I have spent hours on a birthday cake, which takes a minute to destroy and I luckily have a picture to remind myself of the tears and cuss words it took to create. I think in reality, your kids just want you to spend time with them, have you listen to what’s going on in their life (THEY DO NOT WANT ADVICE).  I’m a work in progress and I love listening to other moms who admit their struggles, brag about their success, and strive to be better. Admit, being a mom is hard work, you get to be a chef, maid, chauffer, teacher, nurse, friend, drill Sargent, and a counselor all in one, without any professional training!

Theme Park Mom

Sometimes you don’t want to endure the ride……………

A roller coaster is a pretty good description of how parenting is. Right when you think you have it somewhat figured out, it flips you around in all sorts of directions. Sometimes I’m holding on for dear life, hoping I will survive to the next stage of life. Now that I have teenage girls, that a rollercoaster all on its own. Hormones, attitudes and moodiness that changes every minute of the day. How much easier would life be if it came with an instruction manual, or a step by step diagram of how to deal with girls in middle school.  If you have middle school girls….. then you know what I mean. Our boys are always destroying something. I have learned not to buy anything and get emotionally attached or that will be the first thing on the destroy list and “nobody” knows what happened or who did it.

Life is a Box of Chocolates

I am Angie Morrell, a working mom, full time student, and trying to raise 5 kids to become good adults is not an easy task.  I commend photographers who can make my heathens look like little angels. Growing up I thought I would be the perfect mother, who would know how to connect with my kids, and we would always have fun activities to do. HA! Boy was I wrong! My husband and I have been trying to blend our families together and that’s a whole other story for another post.  There have been times that I have bawled my eyes out in the shower, just so my kids do not hear me falling apart. There have been many many tears, tears of joy, tears of pain, tears for my kids’ success and failures.
